Fourth of July Décor and Moreby Jenny Scala on June 28, 2015 at 10:47 am
The countdown to the Fourth of July fireworks spectacular is on. During the lead up to the rockets red glare, we travel near and far to gather with family and friends to celebrate our nation’s Declaration of Independence. Parades and marching bands, BBQs and picnics, beaches and pools, and red, white and blue mark the grand celebration. While preparing for the festivities, consider the many beautiful ways flowers can enhance the three-day July 4 holiday weekend.
Red-and-white-checkered tablecloths and watermelons scream summer backyard picnic. Don’t throw out that watermelon rind just yet — turn it into a festive centerpiece. Carve out a watermelon like a picnic basket and fill it with hot pink carnations to create the illusion of the inside of a watermelon – the kids will love it.
Surprise guests with fun little floral displays. A cute glass cylinder with blueberries and roses looks charming on end tables or in bathrooms.
If you’re invited to a Fourth of July gathering or can’t be with someone you love, send a floral arrangement inspired by Roman candle fireworks, the ones that look like exploding stars, to brighten their holiday. Here, bright red manzanita branches and yellow Asiatic and calla lilies burst through purple liatris, orange circus roses, green hydrangea and monstera leaves. The party host will thank you for your thoughtfulness, and your loved one will be tickled you are thinking of them.
Happy Fourth of July!
