Your Favorite Mother’s Day Floral Design is …by Jennifer Sparks on May 7, 2013 at 11:13 am
For the past two weeks, flower enthusiasts, bloggers, moms and florists alike have cast their vote for their favorite floral arrangement in our Mother’s Day VaseOff! Challenge: They work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You may mistake them for superheroes, but we just call them mom. For this Mother’s Day VaseOff! Challenge, we’ve asked our florist contestants to create arrangements designed to celebrate and pamper the busy on-the-go mom.
Which design came out on top? Mother Nature by Rowena Johnson. Congratulations, Ro!
“The word ‘mother’ makes me think of Mother Nature and how all mothers are connected, although we all have our own stories,” Rowena said describing her arrangement. “Flowers emulate life — a seed is planted, it’s nurtured, grows, blooms and reseeds so life goes on. My arrangement is natural and garden looking with a tree of life in the center. The life tree celebrates motherhood. With the help of our customers, we received photos of mothers with their children. I shaped them into leaves for the tree of life.”
All of the entries were especially thoughtful and beautiful, and we would like to thank our other contestants for sharing their amazing talents with us: Chelle Gerhardt and Mom’s Happy Place; Tom Kenison and Mom’s Miracle; and Beth McCampbell and Feminine Touch.
These four VaseOff! Challenge entries represent the artistry, expertise, quality and customization that you get from working with a professional florist. Whether for your mom, wife, mother-in-law, aunt, sister, grandmother, daughter or friend, your local florist can arrange thoughtful floral gifts to help you express love and admiration to all the mothers in your life for Mother’s Day or any day, just because.
In addition, this Mother’s Day VaseOff! Challenge is extra special to us. We asked four children’s hospitals to help us get out the votes. To make them smile, we’re going to thank them the best way we can — we’re delivering flowers later this month to the patients and their moms at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Philadelphia, Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
We also invited some great mommy bloggers to join our local florists in making the special deliveries, and they’ll share their experiences with us. Be sure to check back, or follow us at www.facebook.com/AboutFlowers and www.twitter.com/Flowerfactor, to hear about the amazing deliveries.
Our next VaseOff! comes this fall with four new florist contestants and a whole new floral design challenge. Pinterest fans, you won’t want to miss it! Until then, I hope you’ll continue visiting our blog to find out about exciting floral trends and post comments telling us about your experiences with flowers.
