Warm Up to Woolby Sharon McGukin on October 18, 2013 at 10:22 am
Wool décor is big overseas, as seen at this year’s Christmasworld, the leading trade fair for festive decorations held annually in Frankfurt, Germany. Here in the United States, we are starting to embrace the warmth of the wool trend. As a floral design element, wool adds color, form and texture, creating a soft, cuddly, wooliness that makes us want to reach out and touch it. From wrapped vases to accents, wool is certainly a wonderful option for anyone asking their florist for “something different.”
Woven strands of wool in floral arrangements create an interesting effect. The twists of wool’s texture highlight the soft, delicate colors and flowers in this floral design. On-trend bridal bouquets will include wool to create this beautiful, soft and sensual look.
Wreaths wrapped in wool are a fun decoration. Narrow sheets of wool rolled tightly around a wreath form become a colorful accessory for any room. Your florist can add flowers and foliage to colorful wool wreaths.
Florists are also fashioning wool into interesting shapes, such as squares, circles and even sailboats, a touching way to customize floral gifts.
