Feeling festive? Get your jingle bells on because our final VaseOff! Challenge for 2012 is almost here — the third in a series of floral design challenges that showcase the true talent and artistry of florists and give you a chance to vote for your favorite floral designs. In April we challenged our designers to create a 1920s Great Gatsby-inspired bridal bouquet. In July, we celebrated summer and the spirit of gift giving, as we challenged four different contestants to design an arrangement to delight a friend who loves the beach.

For our newest VaseOff! Challenge, we consider holiday festivities that capture the love, joy and togetherness of the season. Sleigh riding, tree decorating, sipping hot cider, and caroling by candlelight in the snow … many of our favorite Christmas traditions date back to Victorian times. As families gathered for celebratory holiday feasts, flowers at the center of the table provided delightful decor.

So, the Challenge to four new florist VaseOff! contestants? To capture the old-fashioned spirit of the season, create a Christmas centerpiece inspired by the elegance of the Victorian Era.

The Holiday VaseOff! Challenge contestants are:

  • Mandy Majerik, Hothouse Design Studio, Birmingham, Alabama
  • Suzanne Nemet, All inBloom, Columbus, Ohio
  • Tom Sebenius, Starbright Floral Design, New York, New York
  • Bryan Swann, Karin’s Florist, Vienna, Virginia

These talented contestants have submitted their floral works of art we’re putting the finishing touches on the pages where you can view their masterpieces. You are in for a treat! We’ll post their designs right here on our blog and invite you to cast your vote to help select the winning design.
