Flowers Open Your Heart to Loveby Christine Arylo on May 31, 2011 at 9:37 am
Aah… It’s a rush of love that instantly opens your heart as you realize someone cared enough to give you flowers. And then, almost always, in response, you feel more love and more connection with the person who sent the flowers.
My guy Noah figured out that flowers were an instant passport into my heart early in our relationship and began using them to speed up the time it took for me to let the walls around my heart down so that he could get in.
This was especially true, and continues to be, when I travel. While I’d love to be the kind of girl who runs rushing into her man’s arms after a long trip away, embracing and kissing passionately within seconds is not me.
But then, Noah discovered the foolproof way to take my heart from closed to open in a nanosecond … a trip to the florist!
And here’s the great thing – what Noah does for me can work for you, too! The ability of flowers to open hearts is universal. According to a Rutgers University study, the presence of flowers immediately triggers happy emotions in a positive manner far beyond what is normally believed. In their study, all participants expressed “true” or “excited” smiles upon receiving flowers, demonstrating extraordinary delight and gratitude. This reaction was universal, occurring in all age groups.
That is a lot of power packed in a bunch of stems and petals. And it works every time!
Love Dare: Try this experiment: Buy flowers for your guy or girl at a time when it’s hard for them to be open to love. Maybe it’s traveling, or after working long hours, or after visiting a relative. Ask your special person to do the same for you. Watch what happens!
I’d love to hear from you about how you use flowers to open the hearts of people you love, or how others have used flowers to open yours. Share with us all here in the comments. I’ll test some of them out myself!
